Viewing recommendations and optimizing costs for storage

You can view the summary of the cost optimization recommendations for the storage volumes used in your organization, or in any financial domain in your organization. Aquila Clouds FinOps lists the storage, volumes that are not associated with any instance are listed and can be deleted from the application. Optionally you can choose to take a snapshot prior to deleting the volume. Also, Aquila Clouds FinOps lists the snapshots with attributes of creation date and whether they are associated with active volumes or not. Based on the recommendations you can decide whether to delete the snapshots or not from the application. You can also view the recommendations for unattached volumes and old snapshots that can be deleted to control operating costs and delete them if required. In addition, you can view the details of over-provisioned volumes and take appropriate action on the over-provisioned volumes.

Viewing cost optimization recommendations for storage

  1. On the side navigation bar, select the OPTIMIZER tab, and click Storage.

     

  2. Click any of the following:

    • Un-attached Storage: To view the potential savings on any storage volume when the un-attached storage recommendations are applied.

       

    • Old Snapshots: To view the potential savings on any storage volume when the old snapshot recommendations are applied.

       

    • Over-provisioned IOPS Storage: To view the potential savings on any storage volume when the over-provisioned IOPS storage recommendations are applied.

Note: You can select the required financial domain to view the recommendation only for those storage volumes that are associated with the selected financial domain.

Optimizing costs using the recommendations for un-attached storage

  1. On the side navigation bar, select the OPTIMIZER tab, and click Storage.

     

  2. Click Un-attached Storage.
    Aquila Clouds displays the cost recommendations for un-attached storage volume for your organization or financial domain.

     

  3. For the required storage volume, in the Un-attached Storage column, click Un-attached Storage.
    Aquila Clouds displays the Storage Details page for the selected storage volume.

     

  4. Click Execute.

Aquila Clouds deletes the un-attached storage volume.

Optimizing costs using the recommendations for old snapshots

  1. On the side navigation bar, select the OPTIMIZER tab, and click Storage.

     

  2. Click Old Snapshots.
    Aquila Clouds displays the cost recommendations for old snapshots for your organization or financial domain.

     

  3. For the required storage volume, in the Old Snapshots column, click Old Snapshots.
    Aquila Clouds displays the Snapshot Details page for the selected storage volume.

     

  4. Click Execute.

Aquila Clouds deletes the old snapshot volume.

Optimizing costs using the recommendations for over-provisioned IOPS storage

  1. On the side navigation bar, select the OPTIMIZER tab, and click Storage.

     

  2. Click Un-attached Storage.
    Aquila Clouds displays the cost recommendations for over-provisioned IOPS storage volume for your organization or financial domain.

  3. For the required storage volume, in the Over-provisioned IOPS Storage column, click Over-provisioned IOPS Storage.
    Aquila Clouds displays the Over-provisioned IOPS Storage Details page for the selected storage volume.

  4. Click Execute.

Aquila Clouds optimizes the over-provisioned IOPS storage.
